Rules, Standards and Requirements for Businesses

These apply to all businesses using Warehut

These are the important things you should know before getting started with Warehut as a merchant. These rules and standards form part of our User Agreement, so you have to abide by them in order to use Warehut.

😇 Be honest

Warehut is built on trust. You agree to be honest when communicating with shippers and Warehut at all times, including during onboarding and during logistics arrangements.

❓ What products can you fulfill through Warehut?

The rule of thumb is that if you’re allowed to sell it using an eCommerce platform like Shopify or WooCommerce, then you’re allowed to use Warehut.

Apart from obviously banned products such as drugs and weapons, you can’t use Warehut for alcohol, flammable items, perishable or pungent items (e.g. food or animal products), medication, or anything containing a lithium-ion battery.

Please note this is not an exhaustive list. See our User Agreement for the full list of banned products.

📦 Getting your inventory to the shipper

You’re responsible for transporting inventory to your shipper/s and for paying for all postage, customs, duties, and other fees. Shippers aren’t responsible for any taxes or import duties.

📱 Communicating with shippers

Communication is the key to a successful relationship between merchant and shipper.

You must keep your shipper/s informed about everything that they would reasonable expect to know. This includes, for example:

  • the packaging and/or courier you want them to use (UPS, Fedex, USPS, etc.? Standard packaging, custom packaging, or eco/recycled packaging? Handwritten thank-you notes, ribbons, stickers, etc.?);
  • the fulfillment timeframes you require (same-day, within 24 hours, within 48 hours, etc.);
  • any special requirements for a particular order; and
  • the dates, frequency and quantity of inventory deliveries.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list and that you are expected to use your best judgement when it comes to communicating with your shippers/s.

💵 Fees

Merchants pay the following fees:

  • A fee for each order that your shipper has picked, packed and posted. This includes reimbursing the shipper for the postage, the fee you pay to your shipper, and the fee you pay to Warehut;
  • A monthly storage fee; and
  • Any other charges agreed between you and your shipper/s, such as tips or one-off payments.

You will be provided with further details about applicable fees during onboarding.

You can approve or dispute fulfillments on the app within 48 hours. After 48 hours, fulfillments will be automatically approved.

🔚 Terminating an arrangement

You must give Warehut and your shipper/s 30 days’ notice in writing before terminating a logistics arrangement.

You should contact your shipper via the chat function in the Warehut app. You should contact Warehut by emailing hi@warehut.io with the subject line “30-day termination notice — from: [your name], owner of [store name]; shipper: [shipper’s name]”.

📥 Getting leftover inventory back from a shipper

You agree to arrange for any inventory that remains with a shipper at the conclusion of a logistics arrangement to be sent back to you in a reasonable time. You must pay the costs of returning leftover inventory.

📄 Liability

We’re not responsible for shippers’ performance. You use Warehut entirely at your own risk.

Warehut is not liable for any loss or damage you sustain by engaging a shipper using Warehut. This includes but is not limited to loss or damage to inventory, late or missed deliveries, or claims against your from shippers for damage to their person or property.

Shippers are not your, or Warehut’s, employees, agents or contractors.
